Spring 2025 World’s Pro Champs Collection

Celebrate The Three All-Black Squads That Won The World’s Pro Basketball Championship Title, In 1939, 1940, and 1943

Our new Spring 2025 Collection celebrates the three African American teams that won the World’s Pro Basketball Championship, played from 1939 to 1948.

The World’s Pro Basketball Championship took place in Chicago from 1939 to 1948. During its 10 years in existence, African-American teams won the tournament title three times: the New York Rens (1939), the Harlem Globetrotters (1940), and the Washington Bears (1943).

A collage of artifacts from the Black Fives Archives, including the event program covers for all ten of the World’s Pro Basketball Championship tournaments, from 1939 to 1948.

These styles make use of our extensive archive of original rare artifacts from this period and from that event. For more details, please visit our Black Fives Online Museum.
