NPR News Morning Edition: A look back at the Black Fives Era of basketball

A placard on display at the New York Historical Society for a game in 1946 between the New York Renaissance and the New Britain Pros. The placard features William “Dolly” King, who starred at Long Island University, before spending several seasons with the Renaissance.

NPR News Morning Edition featured the recently opened Black Fives Exhibit at the New-York Historical Society in a segment this morning.

It was on member station WSHU 91.1 FM (Fairfield County, Connecticut and Long Island, New York) and hosted by Tom Kuser.

Kuser chatted for a few minutes with Claude Johnson, the founder and executive director of the Black Fives Foundation, whose artifacts are on loan to the museum.
