Did you know that there were many non-playing pioneers of the Black Fives Era who made important contributions to the growth and evolution of basketball among African Americans?
Though often behind-the-scenes and in some cases completely obscure today, they nevertheless made a huge difference in basketball during their time.
To help celebrate and honor what they gave to the game and to us, we have a special Contributors section on our website, and it contains some brand new profiles that we are sure you will appreciate.
This particular group of pioneering contributors includes an owner, a trainer, a promoter, an athletic director, a sportswriter, and a referee. It took all kinds. The group by no means complete, but these profiles are a great place to start for some of the many stories that helped make basketball what it is today.
