Neighborhood Athletic Club (Of New York City) First To Represent 'Hood, In 1912

Was their ever a time when black folks came from actual neighborhoods, before it was collectively called the ‘hood?

Somebody help me out, is that a Westy they have as a mascot?

I appreciate their hardcore A-N-C armbands too, decades before the African National Congress was even a twinkle in someone’s eye.

Are we moving back towards such a seemingly uncomplicated time? Or even farther away? Could we have this feeling back if we just allowed it?
