This week’s artifact from the Black Fives Foundation Historical Archive is literally one of the building blocks of America’s basketball history as well as the Harlem Renaissance Period.

It’s a brick. Not “brick” as in a terrible basketball shot that clangs off the rim or the backboard, but rather as in an actual piece of construction material.

Where did it come from? Who made it? Where was it used? How did we get it?
